Generator
Sine Wave
A pure, smooth tone with no overtones. The most basic building block of sound.
Square Wave
A harsher, brighter tone with odd-numbered harmonics. Sounds buzzy or electronic.
Sawtooth Wave
A very bright, rich, and buzzy tone containing all harmonics.
Triangle Wave
A sound between a sine and square wave, with a mellow, flute-like quality.
Frequency Sweep
A sine wave that smoothly glides from a start to an end frequency. Used for finding resonances.
White Noise
Contains equal energy at all frequencies. Sounds like static or hiss.
Pink Noise
Energy decreases as frequency increases. Sounds more balanced and natural than white noise.
Brown Noise
Has more energy at lower frequencies. Sounds deeper, like a heavy waterfall or thunder.
Warble Tone
A sine wave that rapidly fluctuates around a center frequency. Excellent for finding rattles.
IMD Test
Plays two tones (60 Hz & 7 kHz) simultaneously to test for Intermodulation Distortion in audio equipment.
